My Mom always says to me:
"Brett, look at the way you dress and you wonder why people stare at you! Why not just dress like everyone else?"

And all I say is:
"Because Mother. ...I don't want to be like 'everyone', I want to be a 'someone' "

Last Blog-Post of 2011

Well, 2011 has been quite a year

from Durban

to Johannesburg
to Washington DC
to Philadelphia
to New York City
to Johannesburg

to Durban

Wow, I have traveled a lot this year hahaha, unfortunately mostly to Durban.
Well, I am not sure what I am doing or where I am going next.
I guess that is an amazing thing about finishing school and not going into University straight away.
You never really know where you are going to go to and what is going to happen.
So much freedom is intimidating hahaha.

I am not really going to dwell on 2011 with you guys anymore.
It is nearly over, and thats that.
Lets just say that if I ever do figure out the secrets to time travel, I won't really want to come back to 2011.

Oh, before I forget!
BIG SHOUT OUT TO EVERYONE IN LATVIA!
Most page views for the day :)
But thank you to everyone who views my Blog and who takes the time to read my thought :)

Well, this is my last blog post for the year.
I am going on Safari with my Family tomorrow and I won't be taking my Laptop with me.

I hope everyone has an amazing New Years Eve.
Party Hard, Be Safe, do things you will probably regret in the morning or when the Hang-over has passed,
Because you are Wild and Young :)
But PLEASE remember to always call a Cab and NEVER Drink and Drive.

Lots of Hugs, and Love to you all.

This totally happened

Remember on my Christmas list, my number 4 wish was for Fashion TV to Re-tweet me?

WELL IT TOTALLY HAPPENED!!!!!

Right now, this is Bretts ghost typing this message because Brett died of shock and excitement when he received the email.

AND THEY EVEN MENTIONED ME!!!!!

OOOOOOH jbaklbvakbvkbawbc
Is it sad that I found this so exciting??

(if you aren't following me, please do so: @BrettYves)

Wednesday 28 December 2011

I really, really, really hate waiting.

So, I am waiting for someone (who I will tell more about later if it all works out promise) to email me, and it is freaking me out because I don't know when they are and it is causing me to be unable to sleep.

So, I just thought I would share some Kreay/Weird/WTF things I saw online or that I heard/saw/did today :).

Okay, so firstly I was watching Sisterwives, or not watching I was busy doing my post about Dubai but it was playing on the TV and I was sort of listening to it and wife number 3 was like:

"I don't have a toaster because toasters kill more people per year then sharks"
:O
Is this lady for real???
Like, seriously. ...
Well, it does kinda make sense though. ...
Bread has already been baked so why do it again??
Who are the really crazy ones?
Us that bake the already baked bread (they say that doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result is a sign of madness (But each person has their own signs of madness, therefore there are no standards by which to judge. Who said they never learnt anything in school :P), but anyway if you bake a piece of bread that is already baked, it will just become more baked or burnt, so what is the point??

And why am I quoting from my Absurdism Drama notes!?!?!

Anyway, if you understood that then this will be a whole lot easier for me and please tell me exactly what I am meant to be writing about now because I got distracted. ...

And another thing I saw today that is a bit like WTF:
I was on Nicola Formichetti's Facebook page, just chilling and looking through his pictures and I saw this comment:
"Hey Nicola, I was wondering if your bellybutton was photoshopped in one of those pictures from the editorial, cause its much smaller here than on the cover?? :)"

. ...
WTF, like for real
I am speechless

Oh! This isn't really related to any part of what I had oringingally planned for this post, but if you read this blog you will know I absolutely love the french Clothing brand "The Kooples" (One day when they start human cloning and I get myself a clone, I will be in a Kooples Couple! Thats unless my plan with my friend Kylie doesn't work), but anyway, I saw this song on their Facebook page and thought you should all pay a listen to it :).

Goodnight Lovlies

Dubai, Part 2 :)

Okay okay okay, I know it has been a while since my last post about Dubai. ...
I get distracted easily and I have been busy with Christmas and stuff so here it finally is :).
(The big one, not the
one on my thumb)

(I work on African time anyway, so a week late is actually pretty early :P).

And then it was DAAAAAY 4 :D

We went to some kind of Souk place, but it wasn't a typical Souk, it was like a "modern souk", with like fixed prices and stuff. It was pretty nice, you got all the typical Arab stuff but weren't overwhelmed by people shoving their stuff to sell in your face. And I go this Ring there!! How hectic?? It makes me feel like an overpaid rapper with no talent (Like how Jason Derulo must feel like). I spent like most of the day there really. It was a nice place with good vibes and like music playing and stuff.

Day 5
I went to the Dubai Mall! (Again!).
Well, this time it was to meet up with my friends again, for the last time before I left to come back to Dirty, Dirtbin Durban. I had the most amazing day with them! AGAIN! Well, firstly we went for Lunch at this place called Ping Pong. It was really nice like Dim Sum and Asian food. Then we got Cupcakes from the Magnolia bakery (In Bloomingdales), and the red velvet cupcake I had was simply amazing. ...Like wow. Then we went to the biggest bookstore in the world. I can't remember what it is called, something beginning with a K or N and was in Japanese. we went there and laughed at the Romance Section books. I have never laughed so much in my life. One to remember was: "Get ready for a DARN Good Cowboy Christmas" and "If his passion is as hot as this, then bring on the Heat!". ...Like, are these for real?? And Why is the same guy on the cover of every. single. romance book. And he isn't even that good looking!! Well after spending a good like 30 minutes there, we went and like looked around more and just hung out and we watched the Dancing Fountains outside the Burj Khalifa. Then I met one of my friends other friends from school who was a really nice guy. We went to Master Chang or something like that and had dinner. One thing about Dubai is that wherever I went, the food was so amazing and they literally have everything there!! It was so sad when I had to go. I was really sad to leave them and I don't know when I can see them again before they leave for California or London, wherever they are going to study.

So, Day 6 :)
Burj al Arab

We stared off going for Breakfast at the Burj al Arab (The 7 star hotel that looks like a  Sail).
And who knew that you could eat Dim Sum for breakfast?? Well now I do because thats what I had.
Not that I minded at all, since Dim Sum is one of my favourite foods (Along with Pineapple, Sushi and Foie Gras (Just in case one of you wants to take me on a Date one day ;) )).
Well, also at Breakfast, they had some of the absolutely most strangest fruit I have ever seen.
Well, they had the same sort of thing like apples, clementines, pears, oranges. ...all that boring stuff,
BUT
Then they had Dragon Fruit (Which was pretty gross I'm not going to lie, but it looked pretty cool)
Burj Khalifa
and SNAKE FRUIT! Who-ever hear of such a thing!?!?
The skin of the fruit really looked and felt like a real snake!
Pity the fruit part smelt really bad and tasted like Parmesan cheese.
So, if you are ever looking for a Breakfast of strange Fruit, Dim Sum and Asian Tourists, go to the Burj al Arab :D. Then, later that day, or not really later it was directly after we had been for Breakfast we went to the Burj Khalifa, (The tallest building in the World) and we went up to the 124th floor in exactly nearly 1 minute.
It was pretty cool, but just really cold up there! Dubai is an amazing city from the air (as well as the ground), but after the tall buildings, there is just absolutely nothing but desert out there! It is quite mind boggling!

After that we went back to the Dubai Mall and shopped a little, and I got the nicest Red coat from Zara for when I got to London :D.

So, that is just a summary of my 6 Days in Dubai.
I hope you enjoyed reading it :).
It s defiantly worth a visit there, just to see what is possible and the like general amazing things that Man can make and to see like the best, the largest, the tallest, etc etc etc.

Hope you all have a good day
:D

Dubai, Land of Gold, Silver and Hogwarts :)

Helloooooooo Everyone :).

Remember me??

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. The internet here is expensive and I have been having an amazing time so when I have been free I have been too tired and etc etc etc.

Dubai has been so amazing. I don't think i have been in a more bewildering and ridiculous city in my whole life!

Okay, so on day 1 I went to the Mall of the Emirates, and spent like all I my money at Zara. I don't think they had anything left in a size Small by the time I was done there. But, it was a mission to find anything in a small in the first place.
Curse my slender frame and lack of ability to gain weight.
My hotel has been so amazing! I have a view of the Palm Island and The Atlantis Hotel, and the staff are really nice too! Every time I walk past the guy that cleans my room, he calls me "Sir". Makes me feel all Official and like a Boss of some Multi-National business.

Day Two, was soooo awesome.
When I was in America on the GYLC (Global Young Leaders Conference) I met some girls that all went to the same school in Dubai and we became really good friends, so I met up with them here!
We went to the JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence). And we went to this really good French Cafe there called "Paul", and then just went to the beach and chatted, it was so amazing to see them! I didn't believe I was seeing them in the Flesh for real in Dubai! Seems strange to say it now haha, but it happened for real :).

After seeing my friends, my Family (Excluding my sister who had to stay in South Africa and work) and I went on a desert safari, followed by a meal and traditional dancing and a belly dancer (who was quite pretty, but had bad teeth).

Hmmmm, Day 3 :).
We went to "The Dubai Mall", and holy wisdom teeth! That place is Creayyyyyyyyyyzeeeeeeeeeee.
I swear, wooooooooow.
After getting lost like 4 times, getting trapped in a food court, full of fast food (which is literally like my worst nightmare), I came to the conclusion that the Dubai Mall is like Hogwarts, because shops just kept on Disappearing! Its true, really!
I was walking a lot, just minding my own Business and trying to find Zadig and Voltaire or the Galeries Lafayette (I forget which one) and I looked up and saw Ladurée.
Remembering how absolutely amazing my Macaroons from there were, I rushed to the closet escalator (Which was like 100000000m away) I went upstairs and **padjlhbfcv`zjhscvs** it had disappeared O_o.

After shopping there, we walked to the nearest Metro Station, passed the Burj Khalifa (Which I am going to in the Morning), we went to somewhere which I don't know the name to. It was like a place that sold a lot of gold jewellery, like the sort o stuff the Indian people wear when they get married. There were a lot of fabric places there, but I felt like I was in like Little India rather then Dubai.

I have to wrap it up now. I have an early start in the morning.
Breakfast at the Burj al Arab and then going to the Burj Khalifa.
I will report about days 4-when I leave tomorrow if I get the chance, or when I get back to Dirty Dirtbin Durban on Tuesday night :(.

Someone buy me for 1000 000 camels so I don't have to leave??
I don't eat a lot and I can clean and cook. ...
Kinda. ...

Best song to describe how I feel right now

Monday 12 December 2011

Dubai Tomorrow.
I haven't been so excited since I discovered Topman. ...

...And it is even better because they have a store there.
And so does Zadig and Voltaire
and Givenchy
and Zara
and H&M
and Alexander McQueen
and there is a Galeries Lafayette. ...

I hope all those sessions on the Treadmill have paid off.

I'll Try do some blogging and update you all on my adventures there with some of the most amazing friends I have.

Life

When I was five years old my Mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grown up.
I wrote Happy.
They told me I didn't understand the assignment.
I told them they didn't understand life.

You remember:

You rented VHS tapes not DVD's
You could buy everything for 5 Rand
You actually played outside until it was dark

Way back before we realised this would all disappear.

God help the Outcasts

God help the outcasts,
Hungry from birth.
Show them the mercy,
They don't find on Earth.

God help my people,
We look to you still.
God help the Outcasts,
Or no-body will.

I ask for nothing,
I can get by.
But I know so many,
Less lucky then I.

Please help my people,
The poor and down trod.
I thought we all were
Children of God.

God help the outcasts.
Children of God.

Goodnight Sleepyheads

I'm starting to feel like a Dungeon Dragon

Well, not really. I just have a very bad habit of quoting lyrics from songs I am listening to, even if they have nothing to do with anything.

So, its time for another scribbling from this 185cm tall 64kg South African Undecided .kjs`bvdubsljcb ( I do that when I can't think of what to say ;)).

So, this week my social networking has been pretty productive, even if my life is just quite dull. Yesterday the Editor of a  Magazine I love (Schön) followed me on twitter, which is pretty cool.
And I reached 1000 page views which is pretty awesome too :D.

Thank you ladies, Lady-Men and Men out there, you rock the republic that is my world.

I am on holiday for I have no idea how long, but I have some projects I am going to work on and will be uploaded here when they are done. I hope you will find them pretty darn snazzy :). I have a mountain of books that need to be read too. Currently unfinished are: The Outsiders, The Sweet Life in Paris, The Catcher in the Rhy and a lot more. And like thousands of Magazines too. At least if I can't build my muscles I can build my brain :).

Oh, I remember now why I am a Dungeon Dragon.
Its about the whole Arab Spring, especially the involvement of NATO in Libya, which I am sure everyone has heard about. Yes Gaddaffi, or however you spell his name (apparently there are like 13 different ways to do so) was a terrible man. But what about:

Zimbabwe?
Somalia?
Sudan?
The Democratic Republic of Congo?
Rwanda?
Burundi?
Uganda?
and South Africa during Apartheid?

Why has NATO or the USA never intervened in these places during times of War, Genocide, Political Unrest, Political Instability and Dictatorships?

Another quick thing before his sleepyhead gets some shut eye.
Have you ever watched CNN and during the weather reports, how they always focus on Europe and the USA. They never show anything about African Weather, only the temperatures and the stories about Africa are never really informative. Yes, there have been elections in Egypt, but what about the elections in the DRC? In my opinion, if the USA or Europe doesn't have anything to gain from your country, they don't really care about it and hence the rest of the world won't care.

Maybe I am just delusional or just tired.
Whatever, at least I hopefully made you think about something :)

One day in the future when I live in 1941,
I hope to be the very "Boogie Woogie Bugal Boy in Company B that the Andrews Sisters sing about in this very song"
