Burberry FW2012-2013 Campaign

Mario Testino created a gorgeous cinematic experience for Burberry Prorsums Fall/Winter 2012-13 campaign that features everything which optimizes what Burberry stands for, including: iconic outerwear, music, film and the timelessness of British fashion so much so that it seems more suited to the elegance of a 1920s film than an ad-campaign.

Featuring rising stars - actress Gabriella Wilde and musician Roo Panes - the campaign was shot by photographer Mario Testino at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich and was presented as a series of short black and white films. Looks from Burberry Prorsums Fall/Winter 2012 collections were used that highlighted the sophistication of the British fashion in the first half of the 20th century and mixed the rustic fabrics and styles of the British countryside with the tailoring and style of the city.

The campaign does what many don’t - that is to create emotion. You can’t help but feel something, whether it is sadness or loneliness made by the haunting “Indigo Home” by Roo Panes soundtrack and the moody typical London weather. In an industry where the phrase “sex sells” is most commonly used, it is refreshing to see that there are still some who believe that elegance and timelessness are more important.
